Welcome to Blogs of Indy
The concept of Blogs of Indy is simple. A single place to few the blogs from the Indianapolis area in a clean, organized fashion. Giving control of the structure of site to the bloggers and readers.
While reading several of my favorite blogs, I found myself wishing there was a way to view them all in one place. I tried a few other aggregate sites but found the organization lacking. They are all categorized by the blog and not by the post. So if one person blogs about computers and cooking in the same blog then the posts go to both. So I tried to use an rss reader. They just didn't have the ease of use that I wanted.
"One place to view them all" is my motto. My idea is still very much in development. Every owner will have an account and the ability to change their settings as they choose or cancel it all together. They will have control over what they want displayed, where they want categorized to and how they want it displayed.
One of my main goals is to give the blogger control over how their posts are displayed. I'm really trying to figure out how to not make this like all other aggregate sites.
Instead of content being categorized around the incoming feed, content is categorized around the tags on the post. For example, my blog has post about web design and cooking. Currently, most aggregation sites categorize the content around the post. So all of my web design posts show up under cooking. This frustrates the readers. My system will categorize the content based upon what tags from the post. The blog owner, also have the power to assign tags to preexisting categories.
